Youtube is one the mostly used website for advertising. YouTube is monetizing over 3 billion video views per week globally, Because of this there are lot of freaks uploading fake videos and making us fool. I dont know how do they upload fake video thumbnail and fool youtube first then us. I found many times we see some attractive thumbnail, title and click on it, page refreshes, loads video, video starts playing, sometimes we watch half and sometimes complete video and after spending 5-10 mins we get to know that we have been fooled by user and video dont have any relation with thumbnail Its not related to video by any means. Its so annoying and frustrating. I dont know about you guys but i was so frustrated with it, i even reported this thing to google. Hope to see this feature soon on youtube but for now have a look at this greasemonkey script.

  • “I dont know how do they upload fake video thumbnail”: It’s a trick they use when encoding the video, just like for jpeg images, you can set a thumb which is not a part of the image/video and then display it as an icon thumbnail. As far as I can recall, it’s like a hacked Exif data trick. Some people also put a single frame at a set interval (eg: at frame 1200 if the video’s total frames are 2400).
    Nice tutorial btw 🙂
